Playing with us

We are delighted that you are interested in our orchestra!

You are very welcome to join us at the St Jozefschool (Thorbeckestraat 37, 2241 KR Wassenaar). Rehearsals begin at 8.00 pm, but you are welcome to arrive from 7.45 pm, giving you plenty of time to settle in and unpack your instrument. Come and play with us and experience the atmosphere of the orchestra for yourself.

Is the Van Wassenaer Orchestra right for you?

The Van Wassenaer Orchestra is a friendly symphony orchestra with a relatively small number of players. We are a group of accomplished amateur musicians conducted by Dick Verhoef, with Loeki Poncin as our concertmaster. During rehearsals, we work with focus and dedication on our repertoire, while always making time for socialising and enjoying one another’s company. Musicianship and the joy of playing go hand in hand as we work together towards memorable performances.

As we give two concerts a year, we have plenty of time to study the repertoire thoroughly and explore the music in depth.

We currently have vacancies for:

• Violinists
• Viola players
• A double bass player
• Horn players
• Trumpet players

Do you play another instrument? You can also join our waiting list or register as a stand-in player, particularly if you play a brass instrument.

Do you have little experience of playing in an orchestra? That is no problem. Parts can be adapted where necessary, allowing you to develop your orchestral playing at your own pace.

There is no formal audition. After you have attended several rehearsals, the conductor and section leader will discuss with you whether the orchestra is a good fit.

Rehearsals

We rehearse on Thursday evenings from 8.00 pm to 10.15 pm at the St Jozefschool (Thorbeckestraat 37, 2241 KR Wassenaar). The annual membership fee is €275.
